NFL-Supported Wheelchair Football Team Places Fourth in First Home Tournament

By David A. F. Sweet The Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association, based in Lake Forest, and its Chicago Bears Wheelchair Football Team hosted its first home tournament as a founding member of the USA Wheelchair Football League (USAWFL) this past weekend.

The GLASA Bears celebrate during their consolation game against Dallas. The Green Bay Packers Wheelchair Football Team won the championship game, 29-15, against the Angel City Sports LA Rams Wheelchair Football Team in Grayslake. The GLASA team took fourth place of the seven-team tournament, with a loss to the RISE Dallas Cowboys in the consolation game. The GLASA Bears will travel to Tampa Bay the last weekend of August for their next tournament.

Despite being stopped here, the Packers won the championship game.

The USAWFL is a program of Move United that is made possible by support from the National Football League (NFL) and Bob Woodruff Foundation partnership, which is part of the league’s Salute to Service initiative.
