If you were anywhere near Municipal Services earlier this month, you heard the laughter and excited chatter coming from the go-to summer kickoff event for Lake Forest families: Meet the Fleet.
On June 6, more than 1,200 kids, parents, and truck-loving neighbors flocked to Municipal Services to climb and explore the massive machines that keep the city humming behind the scenes. From snowplows and bucket trucks to excavators and street sweepers, the lineup featured over 25 impressive vehicles (and just as many photo ops).
Lake Forest's Public Works crew was on-site answering questions, showing off their gear, and giving kids (and, let's be honest, plenty of grownups, too) a front-row look at what it takes to maintain a beautiful, safe, and functional community.
Events like Meet the Fleet remind us that behind every filled pothole, plowed road, or clean park is a team of people who take pride in their work, and who love sharing it with the community.
Missed it? Don't worry! Meet the Fleet will be back next year, and if this year's turnout was any sign, you'll want to mark your calendar early.
