Hundreds Attend Walk to Address Mental Illness

Lake Forest non-profit Paws for Patrick held its first annual Walk for Wellness and Family Fair at Deerpath Community Park on Saturday. More than 500 people, and many dogs, attended to walk and learn about 35 area organizations on hand that provide services from mental wellness to alternative therapies to animal adoption. "Together we can make a difference and break the stigma of mental illness," said Paws for Patrick Founder Fronzie Roemer. "We are so very grateful to all of you for opening up your hearts to Paws for Patrick and embracing our mission." Junior Board Chair Mags Roemer added, "In the last year, we received more than 115 Emotional Support Animal (ESA) requests and have helped over 250 people."
