Becky Pocasangre Does It All for Public Works
By Kristin Elliott
If you’ve called Public Works, you’ve most likely spoken with Becky Pocasangre, the department’s Administrative Assistant and a friendly, knowledgeable first point of contact for residents. For 22 years, Becky has been helping connect residents with the right information, people, and Public Works services, all while keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.
What does a typical day look like for you?
There really isn’t a typical day! I respond to resident calls, process invoices, schedule meetings and trainings, and support several Public Works supervisors. I also help with vehicle titling and plating, updating building layouts, and managing the Public Works webpages.

"I truly enjoy helping people," says Becky Pocasangre. What do you enjoy most about your job?
I truly enjoy helping people. When residents call, I like making sure they get connected with the right section or department and have the information they need. No matter what comes our way, we are a team and always work together to make sure the residents of Lake Forest are taken care of.
What’s something residents might not know about Public Works?
Residents are familiar with many of the sections they see out in the community, but they may not realize everything that happens behind the scenes. For example, we have our own Building Maintenance section that helps maintain City buildings, as well as an in-house Fleet Maintenance section that keeps our City vehicles and equipment up and running.
Any funny memories?
Early in my career, someone called to report a missed garbage pickup on a Wednesday. That seemed strange because we don’t have Wednesday collection. After getting their address, I discovered they were actually calling from Lake Forest, California!
